Issue

Issue:
On certain motorhomes, the rear axle was not properly filled with oil. As a result, the tail bearings could seize and the pinion stem could break. If this happens, the driveshaft could separate from the rear axle and cause a loss of power to the wheels. This could also cause the vehicle to move when the transmission is in park, if the parking brake is not used.

Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Forest River will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the rear axle checked. Axles found with lubricant at or above the “minimum” level will be filled to the “full” level. Axles that are filled below the minimum oil level will be replaced.
