Issue
Issue:
On certain school buses equipped with a Cummins B6.7 diesel engine, the electric fuel heater could overheat and melt.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2019-149. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
Safety Risk:
A fuel heater that overheats could create the risk of a fire. This could also cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your school bus to a Cummins authorized service center to disable the fuel heater. The fuel heater will be replaced by installing a plug in its place. Additionally, the fuse supplying electrical power to the fuel heater will be removed and a cover will also be installed over the wire harness connector.
