Issue

Issue:
On certain vehicles, a clip for the wiring harness for the automatic transmission may not be installed correctly. Over time, this could result in the wires to rub against the driveshaft and become damaged. This could cause a loss of engine power and/or an engine stall. Additionally, depending on which wire is damaged, the manual and automatic "P" (PARK) gear selection might not be available. If the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly.

Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to check the mounting of the clip and the wiring harness. They will be corrected or replaced as necessary.
