Issue

Issue:
On certain school buses built with a Detroit Diesel DD5 engine, the bolts that attach the engine cooling fan could loosen. If this happens, the fan could detach and/or cause damage to nearby parts. This could disable the school bus.

Safety Risk:
A bus that is disabled could result in an evacuation in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.

Corrective Actions:
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect and repair the fan hub fasteners, as required.
