Issue:
On certain vehicles, the steering pinion gear was manufactured incorrectly. As a result, the gear could break and cause a loss of steering.
Safety Risk:
A loss of steering could create the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
BMW will replace the steering gear on all affected vehicles prior to sale.
