Issue
Issue:
On certain fire trucks, the front shock absorbers may separate from their upper mounts. A loose shock absorber may contact and damage the steering gear housing, resulting in a steering fluid leak and loss of power steering assist. Note: A loose shock absorber may cause a rattle or clunk noise from the front suspension or a change in vehicle handling.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power steering assist could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a service center to inspect and repair the front shock absorber upper mounts.
