Issue

An overload condition in the Body Control Module (BCM) from the starter solenoid could cause damage to the starter crank output circuit of the BCM. This could result in an unintended command to crank the engine when the key is in the run position and the transmission is in the park or neutral position.

Safety risk

Unintended engine cranking while someone is working in the engine compartment could increase the risk of injury.

Corrective actions

The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to have an overlay harness and relay installed to provide electrical power to the starter solenoid.
