Issue

Issue:
On certain trucks, the alternator wiring harness may have been damaged during assembly. This could cause a short circuit to occur. It may result in abnormal electrical activity (i.e. interior lights flickering, intermittent radio) and could prevent the battery from charging. Over time, the battery could discharge. Ultimately, this may result in an engine stall. In rare cases, the short circuit may result in an engine compartment fire.

Safety Risk:
A loss of engine power and/or a loss of power to electrical systems could increase the risk of a crash. An electrical short circuit could create a fire risk.

Corrective Actions:
Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a dealer to inspect the alternator wiring harness. The harness will be repositioned or replaced if necessary.
