Brand(s)
Summary
Please see corrective actions section below
Affected products
2006 | MAZDA | B SERIES
Issue
Note: A subset of 2006 B-Series (vehicles built from August 18, 2005 through November 3, 2005) may pose a higher risk of driver side airbag rupture than other recalled airbags. These vehicles are being recalled separately due to high risk under campaign 2218A. Click here to determine if your vehicle is affected. Vehicles subject to 2218A should not be driven - Contact a Mazda dealer immediately to have the vehicle repaired.
On certain vehicles, the driver airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator.
