Transport Canada Recall - 2015121 - GENERAL MOTORS
Brand(s)
Summary
Please see corrective actions section below
Affected products
2015 | GMC | CANYON
Issue
On certain vehicles, the front driver airbag inflator may separate from the airbag-module backplate during a deployment due to a misalignment during assembly. In a crash, this may cause airbag components to separate from the steering wheel, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Failure of the driver airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will remove the driver airbag module and inspect the inflator to module housing backplate for proper alignment. The airbag will be replaced if it is found to be misaligned.
