Issue
On certain 2008-2010 hybrid buses, and 2005-2008 buses converted from lead acid to a Li-Ion Energy Storage System (Li-Ion ESS), particulate debris can accumulate and breach the electrical isolation of the high voltage battery pack. A conductive path can be created if the electrical isolation is breached at both ends of the battery, which could result in the unintended discharge of the battery. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: BAE Systems Inc. will install a contactor to break currently flow in cases where the electrical isolation is breached at both ends of the battery. Additionally, the system will be modified to disable Li-Ion ESS operation when a breach of the electrical isolation is detected.
