Product description

This recall involves thermostats that have a built-in GFCI and are designed for use in under-floor heating systems. The recalled thermostats are connected to 208-volt or 240-volt power supplies.

The recalled thermostats are sold under various brand names such as: Britech, Copal, Danfoss, Momento, OJ Microline, Warmly Yours, Raychem and True Comfort. The brand name can be found on the front of the thermostat.

This recall does not include thermostats connected to 120-volt power supplies.

Hazard identified

The thermostat's floor sensor or its cable can be damaged from cutting, drilling, or nailing, posing a risk of electric shock to consumers if the power supply is not disconnected.

Health Canada has not received any reports or incident to Canadians related to the use of these thermostats.

Number sold

Approximately 13,000 of the recalled thermostats were distributed in Canada at various home improvement stores, tile shops and other retail shops as well as by electrical installers.

Time period sold

The recalled thermostats were distributed from January 2004 to December 2008.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Denmark.

Consumers should not cut, drill, or nail into the heated floor and should contact OJ Electronics to arrange for a free in-home repair.
