Teether in Baby Medical Kit by Elegant Baby
Product description
This recall involves the liquid-filled teether that was sold as part of the Elegant Baby medical kit for infants. The kit includes a brush, comb, thermometer, nail clipper, measuring spoon, and suction bulb. The teether is made of uncoloured rubber, filled with liquid, and is in the shape of a pretzel. The medical kit that includes the teether can be identified by UPC 77539953534.
Hazard identified
Health Canada requires that infant teether fillings not contain any living micro-organisms. Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the liquid filling of the teether is contaminated with the bacteria Bacillus circulans. This bacteria generally does not cause illness, however the bacteria may be harmful to children with weakened immune systems, if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
