Product description

This recall includes Target Threshold brand white plastic turned spindle design floor lamps with white fabric drum lamp shades and a 3-way pull-chain switch. Lamp is illuminated by two 3-way 100-watt or 29-watt CFL bulbs and stands approximately 152.4 centimetres (60 inches) tall. The model number PL1071 is located on a sticker on the bottom of the lamp.

Hazard identified

The lamp can short when a standard one-way bulb is fully tightened in the lamp’s three-way socket, posing a fire and shock hazard to consumers.

Target Corporation has received 6 incident reports in the United States in which the recalled product produced sparks, caused small fires and shorted outlets. No reports of injuries have been reported in Canada.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lamps in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 163 units of the recalled lamps were sold in Canada and 18,000 units were sold in the United States at Target stores and on Target.com.

Time period sold

The recalled lamps were sold from March 2013 through May 2013 in Canada, and September 2012 through May 2013 in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using the recalled lamp immediately, unplug it and return it to any Target store for a full refund.
