Product description
This recall involves white T-FAL Maxi Fry Deep Fryers that can be identified by these two model numbers:
- FF100250
- FF100651
Only T-FAL Maxi Fry deep fryer with production date codes prior to the 19th week of 2005 is included in this recall. A production date after week 19 of 2005 is not included in this recall. Please see the image below for information on how to identify the production date code on your deep fryer.
Hazard identified
A loose internal connection can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
The firm has received 117 reports of incidents where the terminal blocks overheated, causing minor damage to kitchen countertops. No injuries were reported.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these affected deep fryers.
Number sold
Approximately 40,000 effected units were sold at Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Hart Store, London Drugs, Metro Richelieu, and the Northwest Company Inc.
Time period sold
The affected units were sold from 2003 to 2005.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled deep fryers and contact Groupe SEB Canada's Consumer Contact Centre. Deep fryers will either be repaired or replaced.
