Product description
This voluntary recall involves an electric fireplace heater sold under the model name "Mayhill". The unit has a brown mantel that is 71 cm (28 inches) wide.
The recalled fireplace can be identified by model number SRM9312628DC and UPC 067472131540.
Hazard identified
Some units were found to have mould growth on the MDF panels. Exposure to mould can cause health effects in some people. The most common effects are allergic responses from breathing mould spores.
Neither Quality Craft Home Décor nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these fireplaces.
Number sold
Approximately 1,178 of the recalled products were sold at Canadian Tire Stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled fireplaces were sold from Oct 4, 2010 to Oct 26, 2010.
