Product description
This recall involves the Sylvania Convection Heater identified by product number 52-2028.
The affected heaters are 1500 W wall mounted units with a built in thermostat. The units are white in colour and measure 443 millimetres (17.44 inches) high by 581 millimetres (28.58 inches) wide and 100 millimetres (4.41 inches) in depth.
Hazard identified
It has been determined that the heaters may contain a manufacturing defect in one of their components, which may result in the units overheating. Accordingly, as a precautionary measure, Canadian Tire has decided to recall this product.
Canadian Tire has received 5 reported incidents from consumers alleging that the unit overheated. No reports of injury or property damage have been received.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these heaters.
Number sold
Approximately 3,939 units of the affected heaters were sold at Canadian Tire stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The affected heaters were sold from February 2011 to November 2011.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected Sylvania Convection Heater and return the product to any Canadian Tire store for a refund.
