Product description

This recall involves SMicro6 Series Surgetrap™ surge protectors by Eaton. The surge protector has 6 outlets and can be identified by model numbers SMicro6C, SMicro6T and SMicro6TC. The name "Eaton" can be found on the product.

Hazard identified

The Surge protector may experience an internal short circuit when inserting a plug into one of the six outlets on the surge protector. In the event that this occurs, the surge protector may emit a spark and/or smoke.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these surge protectors.

Number sold

An unknown quantity of the recalled product was sold by authorized Eaton distributors in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from January 2009 to May 2010.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.
