Affected products

Subaru SGX Series portable generators

Product description

The recalled portable gasoline generators are Subaru brand models SGX3500, SGX5000 and SGX7500. The generators have yellow fuel tanks and black frames with collapsible handles. The word "Subaru" is on the fuel tank and is on the control panel under the Subaru logo.

The product number, or Spec, and serial number are found on the end of the fuel tank above the wheels. Please note that the product number is the first 11 characters only. The product bears the Canadian Standards Association listing number CSA No. 171370.

Hazard identified

The fuel tank can leak, posing a fire or burn hazard.

Robin America has received four reports of fuel leakage in the United States. No injury or property damage has been reported.

Neither Health Canada nor the company has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these generators in Canada.

Number sold

Approximately 490 units of the recalled generators were sold in Canada and approximately 4,100 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled generators were sold from September 2011 through May 2013 in Canada, and from September 2011 to January 2013 in the United States.

Place of origin

Consumers should stop using the subject generators immediately and contact Robin America to schedule a free repair.

For more information, consumers may contact Robin America Inc. by telephone toll-free at 1-866-664-1363 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website and click on Recall at the bottom of the page.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.
