Product description

This recall involves the "Stetchin Squid" soft plastic yo-yo ball toy by Toysmith. The yo-yo ball toy has a stretchable plastic cord with a finger loop at the end, and the ball-like end is covered with multicoloured stretchy plastic spaghetti fingers. The yo-yo ball toy is labelled for ages 5 and up and is identified by UPC 085761083585.

Hazard identified

Yo-yo type balls and similar products are banned in Canada because they present a hidden risk of strangulation to children.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these recalled yo-yo balls.

Number sold

Approximately 1,400 of the recalled products were sold at Michael's Arts and Crafts stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from September 2008 to March 2009.
