Product description

The Step2® Basic Rhythms Drum is a preschool toy drum with drum sticks that can be stored in clips on the side of the drum. The drum has a red "Step2®" logo on the side of the drum.

* Item numbers are for identical product. Item 890232 has three languages on the packaging. Item 890212 has only one language on the packaging.

Drums with no clips on the side of the drum are not included in this recall.

Hazard identified

The plastic clips for retaining the drum sticks could break, releasing small pieces. These small pieces pose a choking hazard to young children.

Neither Health Canada nor the Step2® Company has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

About 3,850 units were distributed to Canada and about 21,000 the United States.

Time period sold

This product was sold at Toys R Us and other retail stores from August 2009 to March 2010.

Place of origin

Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do

Consumers should inspect their toy to determine whether they have drums with clips on the side of the drum. If they do, they should immediately stop using the drum and contact Step2 to obtain a replacement.
