Steam Humidifiers recalled due to Fire Hazard

Affected products
This recall involves Research Products Steam Humidifiers with “D” shaped electrode connector wires sold under the AprilAire, Coleman, Luxaire, Bryant, Carrier, and York brand names. These units were manufactured and sold between June 2010 and January 2015.
The steam humidifiers are generally installed alongside HVAC equipment but are separate units. The model number can be found on a silver label placed in the bottom left corner on the outside left panel of the Steam Humidifier.

Issue
Steam Humidifiers containing a specific type of electrode wire with a “D” shaped connector may loosen causing arcing and/or overheating at the interface of the connector and canister, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
As of June 13, 2023 the company has received 103 reports of overheating in the United States and Canada, including 10 reports of overheating and 1 incident resulting in smoke or residential fires in Canada.

Consumers should immediately stop using and shut off the recalled product and contact Research Products Corporation to receive a free electrode wire repair kit and assistance with identifying a qualified contractor to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of their electrode connector wires.
