Specialized Model Year 2016 Venge ViAS Road Bicycles and Modules

Product description

This recall involves all model year 2016 Specialized Venge ViAS S-Works and Pro complete road bicycles, and S-Works module. The module consists of the frame, fork, headset, bottom bracket, brakes, handlebars, stem and seatpost. The identical frames on all affected 2016 Venge ViAS models are equipped with rim brakes.

An S-works or Specialized decal can be found on the downtube. They were sold in the following colour combinations:

  • black
  • red and black
  • black and white
  • green and blue

Hazard identified

The bicycle's rear wheel can come out of the dropout causing fractures in the rear triangle, posing an injury hazard to riders.

Neither Health Canada nor Specialized has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries in Canada related to the use of these recalled products.

Number sold

Approximately 94 units were sold in Canada to Authorized Specialized Retailers.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from July 2015 to September 2016.

Place of origin

Manufactured in Taiwan.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using the affected frames immediately and return them to their nearest Authorized Specialized Retailer for free installation of a new rear derailleur hanger and a safety inspection.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
