Immediately stop using the recalled portable basketball goal and contact the company to arrange for a technician to remove the original arm and install a replacement arm.

Affected products

This recall involves the Spalding Momentous EZ Portable Basketball Goal. The Goal has a 50” or 54” acrylic clear backboard with a visible “H-frame” providing support behind the backboard, or a 54” acrylic clear backboard with aluminum trim, but no H-frame. All backboard styles are attached to a black metal pole with a black metal arm. The black base cover says “Spalding” on the front and the base itself has “6E” molded on the back. The numbers 1010, 1011 or 1012 are printed to the right of the CAUTION statement on the front of the backboard.

Issue

Welds in the arm attaching the backboard to the pole may fail and cause the backboard to fall, posing an impact hazard.

As of September 20, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of the backboard detaching, leading to injury.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable basketball goal and contact the company to arrange for a technician to remove the original arm and install a replacement arm.
