Product description

This recall involves certain VPCF11 and VPCCW2 series notebook computers. The computers are available in many colours and have "VAIO" on the front outside panel. The model numbers can be found on the bottom of the computers.

The following models are included:

VPCF11 Series:

  • VPCF113FD/B
  • VPCF117FD/B
  • VPCF1190S
  • VPCF1190CTO

VPCCW2 Series:

  • VPCCW21FD/B
  • VPCCW21FD/W
  • VPCCW21FD/R
  • VPCCW21FD/L
  • VPCCW21FD/P
  • VPCCW23FD/B
  • VPCCW23FD/W
  • VPCCW290C

Some models may have all model information combined on one white barcode label located on the bottom of the computer. The label may be located anywhere on the bottom of the computer so it may be necessary to look carefully to locate it.

On other models, the Product Code and Serial Number are located on a small white barcode label and the Service Tag (only on some models) is located on a second label on the bottom of the computer or behind the battery. The labels may be located anywhere on the bottom of the computer so it may be necessary to look carefully to locate them.

Hazard identified

The notebook computers can overheat, posing a burn hazard to the consumer.

In Canada, neither Health Canada nor Sony has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these notebook computers.

Number sold

Approximately 13,499 of the recalled notebook computers were sold in Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled notebook computers were sold from January 2010 to June 2010 in Canada.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China and the United States.
