Product description
This recall involves a Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrella sold by Bed Bath & Beyond. The umbrella is almost 4 meters (13 feet) in diameter, and has tan- or chocolate-coloured material, lights, and black supporting poles.
The recalled umbrella has model numbers 8070C-S and 8070C-L, which can be found on the assembly and operating instructions. The product packaging has either UPC 444444550439 (tan) or 444444583963 (chocolate).
Hazard identified
A plastic connecting part, which attaches to the arm of the umbrella, can break, causing the umbrella to collapse. This poses a risk of injury to people beneath or near the umbrella.
Bed Bath & Beyond has received 2 reports of the umbrella collapsing with 3 reports of minor injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

In Canada, approximately 100 of the recalled umbrellas were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond stores and online at www.bedbathandbeyond.ca.
In the United States, approximately 7,600 of the recalled umbrellas were sold in-store and online; the company website in the United States is www.bedbathandbeyond.com.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from February 2010 to June 2010.
