Product description
The recalled product is a silver tealight holder in the shape of a Christmas tree. It holds 9 tealight candles and is approximately 41 centimetres (16 inches) tall with a silver star at the top.
The SKU number 10161667 and the UPC 400100776902 can be found on the tag attached to the product at the time of sale.
Hazard identified
The flame from the candles can touch the bottom of another tealight holder because the holders are not aligned properly on the tree. This poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.
Michaels Stores, Inc. has received one report of the tealight holder catching on fire in Canada. In the United States, they have received five reports of the tealight holders catching on fire, with one report of a minor burn from the hot wax.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries from the use of these tealight holders.
Number sold
Approximately 648 of the silver tree tealight holders were sold at Michaels Arts & Crafts Stores across Canada.
Approximately 7,661 of the silver tree tealight holders were sold at Michaels Arts & Crafts Stores in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from October to December 2010 in Canada and in the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and return it to any Michaels Arts & Crafts Store for a full refund.
