Product description
This recall involves two styles of tea lights by Pier 1 Imports. The silver glitter tea lights come in a clear box of 24 and can be identified by SKU 2410335. The gold glitter tea lights come in a clear box of 24 and can be identified by SKU 2410322. The SKU number for both styles is located on the bottom of the packaging.
Hazard identified
The flame from the tea lights can ignite the glitter on the candle, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In the United States, Pier 1 Imports has received 3 reports of the glitter burning, with no reported injuries. Two of the three incidents occurred in Canada.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 1,875 boxes of the recalled tea lights were sold at Pier 1 Imports stores across Canada.
In the United States, approximately 37,000 of the recalled products were sold at Pier 1 Imports.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2009 to December 2009 in Canada and the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Vietnam.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tea lights and return them to the nearest Pier 1 Imports Inc. store for a full refund or merchandise credit.
