Affected products
This recall involves the following affected products:
Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley – Almas Henna Cone. This product is sold in an orange triangular shaped cone package and is labelled “Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley – Almas Henna Cone” and “Registered 431663”.
Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley - Original Special Zeenat Henna Cone. This product is sold in a yellow triangular shaped cardboard package and is labelled “Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley - Original Special Zeenat Henna Cone” and “Registered 152393”.
Shakeel Bhai Mehndi Waley – Special Bridal Henna Cone. This product is sold in a red triangular shaped cardboard package and is labelled "Shakeel Bhai Mehandi Waley Special Bridal Cone" and “TM NO 329614”.
Health Canada is aware these products were sold by several importers throughout Canada and is actively looking to gather more information. Not all importers import the same products.
Issue
The recalled products contain phenol which is a prohibited Hotlist ingredient. Phenolic compounds are known skin sensitizers and can produce chemical burns (corrosive action) to the skin.
As of March 20, 2024, Health Canada has received 4 reports of incidents related to the use of the Special Bridal Henna Cone product and no incidents related to the use of the other products.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and dispose of them in regular household garbage.
Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada.
Health Canada would like to remind consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
