Product description

This recall involves a set of 3 pairs of earrings by Ardène. The earrings are frog-themed, with a pair of green gem studs, a pair of green frog studs, and a pair of dangle earrings with green crowned frogs. The earrings are sold on a plastic backing that has UPC 14106596 and model number EAR3968.

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has revealed that these pieces of jewellery contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Neither Health Canada nor Ardène has received reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 2,570 sets of the recalled earrings were sold at Ardène stores across Canada.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from April 2009 to February 2010.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take the recalled pieces of jewellery away from children and dispose of them as per Municipal Hazardous Waste Guidelines. Consumers can contact their municipality for instructions on disposing products that contain lead.
