Product description
This recall involves Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Plate imported and distributed by SCR China Trade Inc. The round plate measures 8 inches in diameter and comes with a plastic display stand. An image of Queen Elizabeth II and the text "Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee 1952-2012" are displayed on the plate.
Hazard identified
Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has revealed that the recalled products contain lead in excess of the allowable limits. These products were tested and determined to be non-compliant with the Glazed Ceramics and Glassware Regulations requirements for heavy metals.
Lead is highly toxic if ingested by young children, builds up in the body and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, convulsion, coma or even death. Over time, exposure to lead can result in many harmful health effects.
Neither SCR China Trade Inc. nor Health Canada has received reports of illness related to the use of these recalled plates.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled plates and dispose of them. Consumers are asked to contact their municipality for instructions on disposing items containing lead.
Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
