Product description

This recall involves 2012 and 2013 KidCo Safeway Expansion Gates with the following model and UPC numbers:

Hazard identified

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that these products do not meet the requirements for expansion gates under Canadian law.

The plastic end caps located on the upper and lower horizontal bars may separate, and these small components may pose a choking hazard to young children.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these expansion gates.

Number sold

Since January 2012, approximately 11,900 expansion gates were distributed in Canada, of which there were 9200 of the G2001 model, and 2700 of the G2000 model.

Time period sold

The recalled gates were sold in Canada from January 1, 2012 to May 28, 2013.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should stop using the recalled expansion gates immediately and contact KidCo for a retrofit repair kit. For more information, consumers may contact KidCo at 1-855-847-8600, or visit firm's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
