Product description
This recall involves Rund double walled glass mugs from Ikea, sold in packs of two in 40mL, 210mL, and 400mL sizes. The words "Hand Made Quality" are printed on a small transparent sticker on the side of the mug.
- 40mL mugs have article number 301-551-37.
- 210mL mugs have article number 301-496-79.
- 400mL mugs have article number 501-496-78.
In addition, all sizes have supplier number 16790. The article and supplier numbers can be found on the product packaging.
Hazard identified
Due to variations in glass thickness, the mugs can break when in use, posing a laceration hazard.
There have been no reported injuries in Canada. Globally, Ikea has received twelve reports of Rund glass mugs that have broken while in use. Five of the reports stated that minor injury had occurred.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these mugs.
Number sold
2,870 of the recalled Rund mugs were sold at Ikea stores in Canada, and an additional 13,000 mugs were sold by Ikea in the United States.
The product was discontinued in March 2010.

Sold at Ikea stores in Canada and in the United States from October 2009 to March 2010.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled RUND glass mugs and return them to any Ikea store in Canada for a full refund.
