Product description
This recall involves the portable universal AC/DC/USB power supply sold under the brand Rocketfish. The power supply is for use with portable electronics including laptops, USB devices, DVD players, portable gaming systems, cell phones, and MP3 players. The recalled power supply has the model number RF-INV80, which can be found in the bottom left corner on the base of the unit.
Hazard identified
There have been reports of spontaneous fire in units during charging of the battery due to an unknown defect in the product. The precise cause of the fires has not been determined.
There have been three reported incidents in the United States of minor property damage.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 90 units of the recalled products were sold exclusively at Best Buy stores across Canada and through Internet sales.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2008 to February 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
