Product description

This recall involves the black Rocketfish™ Model RF-KL12 Battery Case. The battery case is made of black lightweight, soft-touch rubberized plastic material designed to hold the phone securely and comes with a built-in battery.

The model number "RF-KL12" appears on the front of the product's packaging, on the packaging barcode and in white print on the curved inner surface of the product.

Hazard identified

The battery case can overheat while charging, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

Best Buy Co. Ltd. and the CPSC have received 14 reports of the battery cases overheating in the United States, including three reports of minor burns to consumers and four reports of minor property damage. No incidents were reported in Canada.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.

Number sold

Approximately 1,000 of the recalled battery cases were sold in Canada at Future Shop and Best Buy retail stores as well as www.futureshop.ca and www.bestbuy.ca.

In the United States, approximately 31,000 of the recalled battery cases were sold at Best Buy stores.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from April 2010 to September 2011 in Canada and the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Best Buy for instructions on returning the product and receiving a Best Buy gift card for $105 in Canada or $70 in the United States.
