Product description
This recall involves RIDGID® Universal Motors sold as a part of a 5350, 300 Compact or 1233 Threading Machine, 300 Power Drive, or a Hose Machine, or sold separately as a replacement motor for these units.
Recalled motors can be found in machines that have a serial number ending with 0408, 0508, 0608, 0708, 0808, 0908, 1008, or 1108. The serial number can be found by looking at the serial plate on the machine.
Hazard identified
The screws that retain the brush holders in the recalled motors may not be properly tightened, allowing the brush holder to back out. The brush lead may contact the motor housing, and if improperly grounded, pose an electrical shock or fire hazard.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 902 units of the recalled product were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were distributed from April 2008 to November 2008.
