Product description

The design on the bag is a white background with a large green maple leaf. Words appear across the entire design. The edges of the bag and handles are green. These items were sold in three sizes: small, medium and large.

The Sears item numbers are as follows and can be found on the care tag inside the bag.

Hazard identified

Testing has revealed a high level of lead in these items. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Neither Health Canada nor Sears Canada has received reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these bags.

Number sold

Approximately 4,600 bags were sold through Sears Canada retail stores across Canada.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately discontinue use of these bags. Sears Canada is offering a refund to those who return their bag to their nearest Sears department store.

Sears Canada will be posting signs in all of its retail stores to advise customers of this safety recall.
