Product description
This recall involves Remote Dust Collector Switches by Shop Fox. The product is a black electrical outlet box that comes with two hand-held remote controls, used to turn on and off a woodworking dust collector. The electrical outlet box has the words "Remote Dust Collector Switch" and "Shop Fox" on it. The recalled remote control switches have model number D3038 or D3346. The model number can be found on the packaging carton but not on the actual product.
Hazard identified
An incorrectly sized wire inside the remote switch can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
In addition, the recalled devices are not certified to Canadian standards and have not been evaluated for safety hazards.
Woodstock International has received 10 reports of the remote switch overheating, with no reported injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these remote switches.
Number sold
Approximately 111 of the recalled products were sold at woodworking stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from July 2008 to June 2009.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
