What to do

Immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the original retailer to obtain a replacement.

Affected products

This recall involves Reese branded hitch receiver locks for use with 1/2" and 5/8" hitch receivers. The affected locks have part numbers 7057030, 7057266, 7054630 or 7057166.

Issue

The subject products contain a cap that may lose its retention over time and/or under certain operating conditions and can separate from the pin. The hitch may separate if the hitch lock backs out of the hole alignment between the hitch and the drawbar/ball mount. If the trailer is not using safety chains, the trailer could separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

As of February 4, 2025, the company has received one report of minor vehicle damage in Canada, and no reports of injuries.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Reese branded hitch receiver locks and return them to the original retailer to obtain a replacement.
