Product description
This recall involves 2012 and 2013 Red Wing Shoe Company work boots with the following styles.

Date codes are visible to the consumer and stamped on inside gusset (tongue) label, for example: 12/12, 01/13, or 09/2013, etc.
The relevant steel toe caps all came from a single vendor and contain the size 14 cap, bearing the date code 122. The affected boots were sold in sizes 11-18 between October 2012 and November 2013. Consumers should check the gusset label of their boots to identify the style number, size, width and manufacturing date. The gusset label is located on the inside of the boot tongue.
Hazard identified
The toe caps, in certain sizes and styles of protective footwear sold in Canada, may not comply with applicable voluntary standards for protective footwear, ASTM F2413 and CSA Z195, and may not withstand impact.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these work boots.
Number sold
Approximately 9,025 pairs were distributed in Canada and about 105 000 pairs in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled work boots were sold from December 2012 to November 2013 at Red Wing Shoe Company stores and authorized dealers across Canada and f rom October 2012 to November 2013 the United States.
Place of origin
The toe caps are manufactured in Germany, while the boots are manufactured and assembled in the United States of America.

What you should do
Consumers should stop using the recalled boots immediately and visit their local Red Wing dealer or contact Red Wing Shoe Company for replacement of affected pairs. Pairs without a recalled toe cap will be returned to the consumer.
