This recall involves Pure & Natural Daily Light Conditioner for Normal Hair. The conditioner is in a white 360 mL bottle with green lettering. The recalled product can be identified by UPC 061354073607.
Only products with lot codes 010708 or 042408, or products without any lot codes on the bottle are included in this recall.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the recalled conditioner is contaminated with the bacteria Burkholderia cepacia. This strain of bacteria is capable of causing infections in healthy individuals but can pose more serious health risks, for people who have compromised immune systems, chronic lung disease, or cystic fibrosis.
Number sold
Approximately 80 of the recalled products were sold in Canada.
The product is known to have been sold in British Columbia and online at www.carinaorganics.com, but may have been sold in other provinces or territories.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from January 2008 onwards.
