Hanging Glass Star Lantern
This recall includes all glass hanging star lanterns sold individually. The lanterns were sold in amber (SKU 2717349), clear (SKU 2717351) and red (SKU 2724169). The SKU number is printed on the hang tag attached to the lantern. The lantern is a three-dimension star-shape made of gold-toned metal and glass. The lantern measures 18 centimetres (7 inches) wide by 18 centimetres (7 inches) deep by 18 centimetres (7 inches) in height. A metal tea light cup sits inside the metal and glass star.
The solder could potentially melt due to heat from a tealight. This can cause the lantern to break, posing a fire hazard.
Pier 1 Imports has received four reports of solder melting in the United States and one in Canada. No injuries have been reported.
Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.
Approximately 550 units were sold in Canada and 10,775 units sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold at Pier 1 Imports stores in Canada and the United States from August 1, 2013 to February 12, 2014.
Place of origin
Manufactured in India.
