This recall involves Pedro's Oranj Peelz citrus-based bicycle degreaser in the following sizes:

Hazard identified

Health Canada's auditing process has revealed that the recalled products pose aspiration hazards and subsequently do not meet the warning labelling and child-resistant closure requirements for consumer chemical products under Canadian law.

Aspiration occurs when a chemical product is ingested and then is introduced into the lungs through coughing and/or vomiting. It can result in severe adverse health effects including: pulmonary injury, chemical pneumonia and death.

Neither Pedro's nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 10,622 units of the recalled products have been sold in various stores.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from Sept 2009 to July 2011.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers who do not wish to return the products should dispose of them according to Municipal Hazarous Waste Guidelines.
