Product description
This recall involves Panasonic 55-inch LCD flat screen television displays sold with a tabletop swivel stand intended for use in hotels, government buildings and schools. The televisions are black, with "Panasonic" printed on the front. The affected model numbers are TH-55LRU50 and TH-55LRU50N. The model number is printed on a tag located in the center of the back of the television. The swivel stand is a glossy black color and measures 50.5 inches long by 32 inches tall by 11.1 inches deep (128 cm x 81 cm x 28 cm). There is a label on the front underside of the base as well as a number etched into the metal.
Hazard identified
Repeated swivelling of the television in the stand may result in a widening of the plastic holes at the location of the mounting screws, which may result in the television falling and causing injury or property damage.
As of January 11, 2018, Panasonic Canada and Panasonic US have received no reports of injury or property damage as a result of the television pedestal failing.
Number sold
Approximately 76 units of model TH-55LRU50 and 52 units of model TH-55LRU50N were sold in Canada, and approximately 755 units of model TH-55LRU50 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from August 2012 to March 2015 in Canada, and from July 2012 to March 2014 in the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in Mexico.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the Hospitality 55-inch LCD Television on the swivel stand and contact Panasonic Canada to arrange for a service technician to install a reinforcement kit (if pedestal mounted).
