Affected products

RYOBI® 40-Volt Brushless Snow Blower

Product description

This recall involves the Ryobi® 40-volt Brushless Snow Blowers with model numbers RY40822 and RY40802A. The model number is printed on the data label on the back of the blowers. The snow blowers are black and green with two LED lights located on the front of the unit and are approximately 22 inches wide by 43 inches tall. "RYOBI" is printed on the front of the snow blowers. "40 V" is printed on each side of the snow blowers. The recalled products were certified by UL and have certification file number E476832.

Hazard identified

The RYOBI® 40-Volt Brushless Snow Blower can overheat, posing a potential burn and fire hazard to consumers.

Neither Health Canada nor One World Technologies, Inc. has received any consumer reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.

In the United States, One World Technologies, Inc. has received two reports of snow blowers overheating during or immediately after use. Of the two reports, one consumer reported seeing flames which were immediately extinguished. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Number sold

Approximately 370 units were sold in Canada and approximately 300 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold in Canada from August 2015 March 2016 at Home Depot stores and online at www.homedepot.ca. In the United States, the affected products were sold from November 2015 to February 2016 online at www.homedepot.com.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snow blowers and contact One World Technologies, Inc. to arrange for a full refund.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission's website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
