Product description
This recall involves Niles® ZR-6 MultiZone Receivers. The receivers are black with a blue LCD display on the right side and the Niles logo in white on the front center. The model number "R-6" appears on the lower left side of the front panel.
The software version is shown on the LCD display if the ZR-6 is turned off and then back on using the front panel power button.
This recall does not include software version higher than 3.26.
Hazard identified
A failure in the receiver's internal components can cause connected loudspeakers to overheat and cause a fire, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Three incidents of loudspeakers overheating have been reported with no reported injuries.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these receivers.
Number sold
Approximately 218 of the recalled products were sold by Audio/Video/Home Theater Custom Installation Professionals in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2008 to 2010.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled receivers and contact Niles Audio for a free repair kit. The repair kit includes a software update for the receivers. Niles is directly contacting consumers who purchased the recalled receivers.
