Product description
This recall involves variable speed swimming pool motors with a programmable user interface on the top. "Emerson" or "EcoTech EZ" is printed on top of the control box and the model number is printed on the rating plate located on the side of the pump.

Hazard identified
The pump control cover may not be properly grounded, posing an electrical shock hazard.
As of May 30, 2017, Nidec Motor Corporation has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these affected products. In the United States, the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries.
Number sold
Approximately 22 units of the affected products were sold in Canada. Approximately 16,000 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled pool motors were sold from 2010 to October 2016 in both Canada and the United States.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled swimming pool motors and contact Nidec Motor Corporation to schedule a free repair by a qualified technician to install an external ground lead.
