Product description
This recall involves NHL-branded liquid-filled teethers by Newborn Necessities. The teethers are in the shape of a flower with three water-filled petals. The center of the teether is white and has one of five current NHL logos printed on it. The recalled teethers can be identified by model number H51R1V.
The following six NHL-branded teether styles are included in this recall:
- Vancouver Canucks
- Calgary Flames
- Edmonton Oilers
- Montreal Canadiens
- Ottawa Senators
- Toronto Maple Leafs
Hazard identified
Health Canada requires that infant teether fillings not contain any living micro-organisms. Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the liquid filling of the teether is contaminated with the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These bacteria can affect children with weakened immune systems, causing various infections, if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

The recalled products were sold from January 2005 to June 2009.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled teethers away from children and dispose of them in normal household garbage or return to the retailer for full credit.
