Children's fleece jackets with drawstrings at the neck and waist
Product description
This recall involves children’s fleece jackets, with hoods, sold as a two-piece set with pants (model 331). These children's jackets have a fleece lining and drawstrings at the neck and waist. In addition, there is a brand label marked “mini parallèles” at the bottom of the jacket.
They are sold in different sizes, colours and patterns.
Hazard identified
Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program has determined that drawstrings on children’s upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.
Neither Les mini parallèles nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.
For more information on the hazards related to drawstrings on children's outerwear and for tips to help consumers eliminate these hazards, see Health Canada's: ‘Is Your Child Safe?’, ‘Industry Guide to Second-hand Products’, and ‘Children's Sleepwear: Flammability Requirement Guidelines’.
