Product description
This recall involves natural gas and propane H5 Series Fireplace models 1100 and 1150 installed with certain 3 and 4-sided fireplace trim (model numbers 1135, 1140, 1145, 1149 or 1184).

Hazard identified
Convective heat (heated air only) can escape from behind the fireplace trim and overheat. While there is no evidence of a fire risk or significant charring, the stream of convective heat could cause possible discoloration of the adjacent wood studs or, over a period of time, charring of the wood behind the trim.
Miles Industries Ltd. has received one report of discoloration in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received no reports of charring or discoloration, and no reports of injuries.
Number sold
Approximately 1,864 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and approximately 976 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled fireplaces and fireplace trims were sold in Canada and the United States from June 2014 to March 2018 at various dealers and distributors.

What you should do
Consumers should contact the dealer where the fireplace was purchased to schedule the installation of a left and right bracket in order to prevent any convective air displacement.
